ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR ROSSI SETIADJI, Environmental Chemist Dr. Rossi Setiodji, 49 years old, was born in Indonesia. He received hiS tertiary education training in Bogor as well as in the USA a t the New Mexico State University in Los Cruces. Among Dr. Rossi's fields of expertise ore environmental sensor and monitoring and electrochemical and radiochemical analyses. He joined FIST with 15 years experience as chemist in the area of environmental monitoring, characterization and remediation, and l 0 years as engineering consultant in the area of quality m anagement, environmental management, water and wastewater treatment and hazardous materials handling. Interestingly Dr. Rossi was once a high school headmaster but the human touch has not been diminished as he has also held various capacities as human resource manager thereafter. As a UMPion he hopes to apply his extensive experience in teaching, research, consultoncy and community outreach. Dr. Rossi is married to Yunito Toniswori. The couple has four children. Saiful Nizam Tajuddin, PhD (Industrial Chemistry) candidate Soiful Nizom Tojuddin, 32 years old, was born in Kuonton. The son of a Navy man, Soiful Nizom himself spent the Iotter port of his schooling years at the Royal Military College. While enrolled as on undergraduate and MSc in Industrial Chemistry at Universiti Soins Malaysia, Soiful Nizom developed laboratory skills, penchant for deductive reasoning and innovotiveness under the tutelage of Prof Asri Nowi. He then completed a teaching diploma and taught at the Matriculation College in Gombong before joining the University College of Engineering & Technology Malaysia (now UMP). Soiful Nizom is presently Lecturer in Chemistry at UMP on Ph.D study leave completing a thesis on using novel organic analytical .instrumentation and techniques to identify new chemical compounds or revise older structure assignments of constituents of the fragrant fraction of Aquilorio moloccensis (gohoru) under the supervision of Prof Moshitoh Mohd Yusoff. ul decided upon a career in chemistry because of the great job prospect and greater still is the opportunity to carry out problemin solving regularly chemical research," he concluded during our interview.
