The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of
Psychologist 4 at the Monroe Correctional Complex (MCC) located in Monroe, WA. This
position facilitates the treatment of sex offenders in our Twin Rivers Unit.
The Monroe Correctional Complex (MCC) is a 2400 bed male all-custody level facility located 30 miles
northeast of Seattle. The complex consists of four units; the original “reformatory”, a large mental
health inpatient treatment unit, a sex offender treatment unit and a minimum custody unit that also
houses community corrections violators, much like a jail. Monroe is considered the hub of medical and
psychiatric care for DOC. It is located close to University of Washington and Harborview Medical Center.
MCC provides care for the sickest and most complicated patients in our system.
Duties:
•Supervises doctoral level psychologists in an institution, directs and coordinates work of mental health
professionals with that of other institution service programs.
•Provides Mental Health Intervention/Consultation for SOTP in collaboration with Mental Health
Providers in the facility.
•Plans, executes, and participates in treatment programs.
•Serves as consultant to diagnostic, intake, treatment, and disposition staff.
•Provides individual and group psychotherapy to patients.
•Conducts pre and post data collection related to program outcomes and periodically reports research
results to the SOTP Director.
•Provides training and consultation for SOTP staff related to cognitive behavior therapy theory and
practice. Provides training as a subject matter expert related to sex offender treatment and current
research.
Qualifications:
Doctoral Degree in Psychology from an accredited school or department of Psychology whose
accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education
Accreditation (CHEA), and possession of a current license to practice psychology in the state of
Washington.
Each employee is expected to maintain and adhere to the continuing education requirements for the
applicable professional credential.
Each employee must adhere to legislation and/or law changes that may affect current licensure and/or
registration requirements.
Desired: Three years of Postdoctoral Psychology experience, including one year of experience in forensic
psychology.
