OBJECTIVE
Tell whether numbers are prime or composite.
INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGY
Use the dates on the monthly school lunch calendar and determine if each day is a prime or composite number.
ASSIGNMENT
STEP ONE
STEP TWO
Get a copy of school lunch calendar for this month. If you do not have a copy, one can be downloaded from the
cafeteria tab on the school website.
Label each day that is a PRIME number with a “P”.
STEP THREE
Label each day that is a COMPOSITE number with a “C”.
STEP FOUR
Return completed calendar to school for grading.

Extra support can be found in Lesson 9-2 of 5th grade math book. Students who do not have access to a school
lunch calendar will be given time to complete the assignment at school.
