creamy-white flowers (May-June) are edible, can be deep fried
in batter, used in baking, or added to fruit salads. Harvest large,
shiny dark purple clusters of berries in Aug/Sept. Berries are
tasty for jams, pie and wine. Fruit is also used in food colouring
and in nutraceutical industry for it's high anti-oxident properties

Native to Canada, Russia and Japan. Attracts pollinators,
birds (use 1/4" - 1/2" netting). High yielding, pest and diease
resistant. Flavor is a combination of a blueberry, saskatoon, and
raspberry. High in antioxidants, vitamin C. Needs two different
varieties for cross pollination (see recommended varieties in
descriptions below, ratio 1:5, close proximity). Space shrubs 1.2
to 2m apart, 2.5 to 3m between rows.
Companion variety for Borealis. Very productive and has large
sweet tasting berries that are easy to pick. One Aurora plant
can pollinate eight Borealis and vice versa.
Russian variety. Fastest growing and tallest varieties (ht 1.8 to
2.4m), many flowers. Somewhat smaller and not as sweet of
fruit, offers a high yield. Recommended by U of Sask. as a
pollinator variety.
Canadian variety. Sweet/tangy, large fruit. Not as firm as
Tundra. Compact growth habit, height 1.2m.
Canadian variety. Selected to be a pollinator for 'Borealis',
'Tundra' & 'Indigo Series'. Fast growing as well as quick to set
fruit. Fruit is held on the bush very firmly. The also stay on the
