Securing Device Access at an advanced Level: The MiCard PLUS-2 The MiCard PLUS-2 is a card reader designed to meet higher security requirements when managing device access. As with other proximity card readers it enables organizations to lock printers, scanners and multifunctional devices to prevent unauthorized and uncontrolled use so that only authorized users are allowed quick and easy access. A single swipe of their building access pass or ID card is all that is required for instant authentication and access to the full power of uniFLOW. By supporting HID iCLASS® ID technology, the MiCard PLUS-2 provides enhanced security as it effectively protects cards and card readers against misuse. Multiple Technologies Proximity card readers can be equipped with various technologies. The MiCard PLUS-2 supports several technologies and can be configured to read a range of proximity and contactless cards. It therefore provides organizations with maximum flexibility as far as integration of uniFLOW into the existing environment is concerned. Please refer to the full list of supported card technologies overleaf. Version 2 | November 2015 HID iClass® ID For 125 KHz frequency range the MiCard PLUS-2 supports common technologies such as HID® Prox, Indala®, HITAG and CASI-RUSCO®. For a range of 13.56 MHz it can identify serial numbers from cards using MIFARE® or LEGIC Advant. Its ability to read HID iClass® ID renders the MiCard PLUS-2 an advanced solution in security terms. Simultaneous Card Reading The MiCard PLUS-2 reader can be configured to read two different cards, regardless of technology or frequency. Organizations with more than one technology can provide all users with access to devices without needing to distribute multiple cards or attach RFID stickers to existing cards. Any Printer The MiCard PLUS-2 reader is natively supported by Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE and Samsung multifunctional devices, Canon Compact Multifunctional Printers (CMFP), Canon ScanFront Scanners and Océ ColorWave and PlotWave Large Format Printers, all running an embedded applet. Simply plug it in. There is no requirement to upload any configuration files. The MiCard PLUS-2 reader can also be connected to other devices, using a microMIND, for authentication and release of print jobs regardless of printer make or model. As regards Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE devices, the reader can also be fitted into these machines so there are no external wires or cables that could be accidentally unplugged. Configurability The MiCard PLUS-2 reader is highly configurable, making it an ideal investment for any organization. Should the organization’s proximity or contactless technology be updated or adapted, the MiCard PLUS-2 reader can be re-configured without incurring further costs for new hardware because it contains a flash memory that can be programmed to read the numbers in the correct format.
