Congratulations Readers!
Have you visited artsonia.com to see your child’s art yet? Artsonia is an
online gallery we have been using for three years to display the students’
masterpieces. Last year Cadott was ranked in the top 100 in the U.S. and top 10 in the
state based on our participation! By searching our school or typing in a child’s username
you can see their many art works made for the past three years. Post comments and invite
family/friends to be in their fan club to receive emails when new art is posted. They love to
read these in art class. Children’s art makes the best gifts, so check out the gift shop and
help our school earn 20% of the sales!

Hornet Health Tip: Strep Throat
We’ve had more-than-usual parent reports of strep throat at the elementary school. Strep throat is the most common
bacterial infection of the throat.
What are the symptoms of “strep throat”?
 Sudden onset of fever, chills, sore throat, swollen glands in the neck
 Stomach ache, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, difficulty swallowing
 A rash may occur with “strep throat”. It may first appear on the neck and chest, and
then spreads over the body. It is described as "sandpapery" in feel.
How is “strep throat” spread?
 By direct contact with oral or nasal secretions
 By secretions being coughed into the air
How long is “strep throat” contagious?
 Infected persons are contagious from the appearance of the first symptoms, until 10-21 days after symptoms, in
persons who do not receive treatment.
 Persons treated with antibiotics are contagious for 24-48 hours after beginning treatment. Students may return
to school 24 hours after the first dose of antibiotic is taken.
What should I do if I think my child may have “strep throat”?
 Contact your health care provider.

noticed a trend…you are coming to our activities! We love it! We are anticipating a

the 5 and 6 grade parents to attend the evening Choir/Band concert.

Dress Warm
Students should be dressing for cold weather. Please be sure your child comes to
school with warm coats, hats, mittens, and boots. It is a good idea to put your
child’s name on the tags or somewhere on the inside of the warm clothing and
boots. Going outdoors for recess is fun when you’re dressed for the weather.
