Sam Birdsall Exhibits Class Winner and Combined Reserve Intermediate
Champion at the 2014 American Royal.
Sam with his Lot 23 Entry to the
American Royal Ladies of the Royal Sale
DHB 743 LULA 3083 ET
Sam Birdsall of Homer, New York had a great show and sale at his first American Royal and Ladies of the Royal Sale in
Kansas City, Missouri, which was held November 1st and 2nd, 2014.
The weekend began with Sam’s Lot 23 consignment to the Ladies of the Royal Sale in the Wagstaff Sale Arena. Heifer
calves, bred heifers, rights to flush and embryos made up the 34 lot genetic powerhouse sale. The sale order was determined by a consensus vote of the consigners of the sale and DHB 100W LUCY 3034 was selected first bred heifer to be
sold. When the gavel dropped, “Lucy” not only was the top bred heifer sold but was also the third high selling lot at $13,000
in the Ladies of the Royal Sale.
The next day, Judge Kevin Hafner, Yukon, Oklahoma, sorted the 170-head American Royal National Hereford Show.
Sam’s entry DHB 743 LULA 3083 ET rose to the top winning 1st place in Class 8 at the show. Sam and “Lula” then went
on to receive the Reserve Intermediate Combined Division Champion of the National Show.
Sam is the 9 year old son of Dennis and Heather Birdsall of Homer, NY. He is a fourth grader at Homer Intermediate
School , a member of the Friendly Acres 4-H Club and New York Junior Hereford Association. This is Sam’s third year
showing Hereford Cattle. He has exhibited at the past three Hereford Junior Nationals where he has had the privilege of
showing heifers that have earned the top spots of 1st, 2nd and 3rd places
