Thomas House Family Shelter supports 16 homeless families on-site, and dozens more through our
Homelessness Prevention program. The mission of Thomas House is to provide a safe, supportive environment
and the resources necessary for homeless families with children to remain together while empowering them to
become independent and self-sufficient.
Either on-site or in their own apartment, families at Thomas House must seek and maintain full time
employment, save 80% of their income, and participate in trainings designed to help them achieve and maintain
self-sufficiency and permanent housing. Supportive services offered to the families include: food, shelter,
individual and family counseling, life skills classes, budgeting assistance, employment preparation, job search
assistance, and academic programs such as mentoring and tutoring for children. It takes a lot to house and
support over 50 families a year – to help, please donate an item from our wish list or join us as a volunteer.
