Sketchup Lessons:
Roof and Wallpaper
1. Begin by searching for “skechup” in Spotlight.
Click on the Sketchup icon.
2. Next, click on “Template” and select
“Architecural Design- Feet and Inches”.
Click “Start using Sketchup”.
3. Now click File --> Open recent.
Select your Box project.
4. Your house should appear.

5. Let’s begin by make a roof. Select the Line tool. Move your mouse to the top corner of your
house. When you see the word “Endpoint” click down.
6. Now move your mouse along the edge of roof. When you get to the middle it should say
“Midpoint”. Don’t click yet!
7. Move your mouse up and click when your roof is the height you want.

8. Next move your mouse to the other corner of the roof. When you see the word “Endpoint” click
your mouse.
9. Now use the Orbit tool so that you can see the other side of the triangle.

10. Click on the Push/Pull tool and pull. Now place the tool at the center of your triangle and pull the
triangle to the other side of the house.
11. Click on the Paint Bucket Tool. Select “Roofing” from the drop-down menu. Paint your roof.

12. Use the Orbit tool to move around the roof. Use the Paint Bucket tool to paint each side of the
roof.
13. Use the Orbit tool to rotate to the back of your house.

14. Use the Rectangle tool to make a big rectangle on the back wall. Make sure the word “On Face
appear as you’re drawing .
15. Click on the Arrow tool and use it to select the rectangle.

16. Click the “delete” button
on your keyboard.
17. Use the Walk Tool to get closer to the inside of your house

18. At this point, find an image you want to use as wallpaper for a wall in your house. I am going to
use the Techbrarian logo. Once you have the photo click File --> Import.
19. Make sure “Use as Texture” is selected. Click on photo and click “Import”.
20. Choose the wall you want to place the image on. When you see the words “On Face” click your
mouse.

21. Now, choose the size of your image (this image will repeat itself along the wall). When you see
the words “On Face” click your mouse.
Your final product should look something like this:
