recognized by the system. Open an existing or new Excel Worksheet and follow the
format below.

on the first row

Import Prices From an Excel Tab Delimited Text File
This function allows you to import price data into the Price System from a price file.
Price files must be in a format that is recognized by the system to ensure that the import
is done properly. Price files obtained from a factory or exported from another
version/copy of SAW should already be formatted correctly and ready for import.
Before performing the import function, it is a good idea to make sure you have a current
backup of the Price System data file (WPRICE.BTR).
The Import Prices from a Text File function allows you to import price records into the
Price System from two types of files. You do not need to be concerned over the format of
the file - the system will make the determination for you.
• Tab Delimited/Excel format - The tab delimited file is a text file where fields
within a record are separated by tabs. This kind of file is usually created using a
spreadsheet program such as Microsoft Excel where the data is easily formatted
into columns or may be exported from a factory system. The file will probably
have a TXT extension.
• ASCII format - The ASCII file is a text file with records of a pre-defined length
and format. The file will probably have an ASC extension.
Import The File
To import a price file, click the Utility menu option and select Import Prices from a Text
File.
IMPORTExcelToPriceFileInst.doc
In the dialog box provided, select the path and filename for importing the file. The
default path is the C:\CAHILL folder. Files with both TXT and ASC extensions will be
displayed.
Note: If a price record in the import price file matches that of a price record in the
Price System, the system will update the Price System record with that of the import
price file.
You also have the option of changing the factory code listed in the import price file to a
code in your Price System (ACME -> ACMR).
If you want to use the MFG codes from the text file enter YESALL when asked for the
new MFG code.
After the process is complete, the system will display the number of records imported.
