Eliza Scalia Book Signing Saturday, September 10, 11 AM-1 PM On September 10th at 11 AM Winchester author, Eliza Scalia, will speak about her novel Death's Assistant. All are welcome. There will be a question and answer period and a book signing afterward. Death's Assistant is a novel about a group of teenagers in a small town who have the ability to transform into animals. They use this ability to form a pack and fight crime in their town, mainly fighting the drug trade. Jake is new to the group and soon after he joins the pack’s training, they discover that one of the biggest drug dealers in the country is going to be in their town for unknown reasons. The pack doesn’t care why he’s coming, they are just determined to catch him by any means necessary; determination that could end up causing more harm than good. In 1825, Jereboam O. Beauchamp assassinated Kentucky attorney general Solomon P. Sharp. The murder, trial, conviction, and execution of the killer, as well as the suicide of his wife, Anna Cooke Beauchamp, fascinated Americans. The episode became the basis of dozens of novels and plays composed by some of the country's most esteemed literary talents, among them Edgar Allan Poe and William Gilmore Simms. Local History Potluck Dinner Program Lindrell Blackwell, Kentucky Scholar, portrays Willie Lee Edwards: Bourbon County Photographer Thursday, September 22, Supper 6:15 PM Program 7 PM Willie Lee Edwards, was a notable photographer in Paris, Kentucky. Called “Pat” by his friends, he is an important figure primarily because he preserved, in images, the lion’s share of the 20th century history and culture of the Bourbon County’s African-American people. Join us as Lindrell Blackwell shares the life and work of his grandfather, Mr. Edwards. Bring a dish and join us for this interesting program; it is free and open to the public.
