 Land = 13% of German land was given to
countries like France and Poland;
 Army = cut to 100,000 men, 6 battleships;
no submarines, tanks or planes;
 Money = Germany had to pay £6.6
billion for damage caused;
 Blame = Germany accepted blame for
the war.

The Beer Hall Uprising:
Germany suffering from hyperinflation
(money becoming worthless), the
French had invaded the Ruhr area and
Germany could not pay reparations;
 Hitler saw this as his chance to take
control;
 Alongside General Ludendorff, he led
an uprising against the government in
Munich;
 It didn’t work – Hitler was jailed for 9
months in Landsberg Prison;
 He became a celebrity, writing a book
about his ideas called ‘Mein Kampf’
(My Struggle).


hyperinflation;
 Received loans
from USA (Dawes
Plan);
 Made peace with
France (Locarno
Treaty);
 Reduced
Germany’s debts
(Young Plan).

Hitler stabbed his friends the
SA in the back;
 The SA (Nazi army) had
become too powerful;
 Hitler needed the support of
the proper German army
who hated the SA;
 300 SA leaders killed in a
surprise attack;
 The German army is pleased
and swears an Oath of
Loyalty to Hitler.

