Chamber Advocates on behalf of Businesses
Kerrie Babin, Chamber President and members of the board of directors respectfully urged Raynham Selectmen to
lower the commercial tax for 2012. At the tax classification hearing on November 22, 2011, Babin suggested that
Raynham Selectmen consider moving toward a flat tax and to lower the commercial tax rate to help relieve the burden facing businesses during the economic downturn. All three selectmen responded that they could not lower the
commercial rate this year because many residents were faring worse than businesses. As a result, Raynham will
continue with a split rate for commercial properties with a shift differential of 126 percent.

Taunton Area School
to Career is looking for
working adults to get
involved with TASC by
volunteering to "make a difference"
in a student’s life through their
Career Mentor Program.
Originating at Taunton High School
in 1988, The Career Mentor
Program is beginning its 17th year
with TASC. The goal of the program is to provide students with
"meaningful workplace and career
exploration experiences" and they
do this through various college and
business tours and one-on-one
interactions that focus on strategizing about life after high school.
Their adult volunteers meet with a
student over a four month period,
on average around twice a month,
and get to share their knowledge
and the tools that made them successful. The students benefit
tremendously from having a caring
adult showing them what’s out
there in the world of work.
Student’s eyes are opened to the
many careers available to them.
They become motivated and excited, and many are able to set goals
and plan for their futures. This
program really makes a difference
in their lives. There are always students on the waiting list that can
benefit from this great program and
TASC would like to make it available to even more of them this year.
TASC is also delighted to announce
that Nate Pally has joined us as an
Americorps Ambassador of
Mentoring. He will be with them
for the entirety of this year’s Career
Mentor Program. If you or your
company would like more information on how you can get involved
with the Career Mentor Program or
any of the other Programs that
TASC runs please contact: Nate
Pally, Ambassador of Mentoring, at
508 821 2505 or email him at [email protected].

Farrell Backlund Insurance began its
formation in the early 1950s and
continues to operate from its origi-
nal headquarters at 128 Dean Street
