This is the map of the culture area of the
Subarctic/Arctic area and also shows what
tribes that lived in this area.
Their settlements were diverse but very small so that they were easy to
set up, take down, and move from place to place. Most of their homes
were either lean-tos or double lean-tos. They built it with animal skins
and for the beams wood or whale bones. Some Dene used pit houses,

rituals and religion and were also a form of art,
they would represent the masks of different
animals. In some religious ceremonies, it was
thought that the person wearing the mask would
take on the spirit of the animal depending on the
mask.

very narrow and could be more than
two feet long. Though Algonquian tribe
preferred them to be oval shaped as it
would be an advantage that allowed
hunters to move more rapidly through
the snow.
