Safeguarding
Our school has safeguarding polices and procedures to
ensure that every child, regardless of their age,
gender, religion or ethnicity, can be protected from
harm.
Safeguarding means:
 protecting children from abuse and
maltreatment
 preventing harm to children’s
health or development
 ensuring children grow up with the
provision of safe and effective care
 taking action to enable all children
and young people have the best outcomes
Everyone has a responsibility to keep children and
young people safe. If you have a concern about a
child, staff member or volunteer at our school please
make us aware of it. Our Safeguarding Leader is Mrs
Debbie Barnard.

School Closure
Please note that the school will be closed on Bank

Important - Emergency Contacts
It is important that we can contact you if
your child is taken ill at school. If you
change employment or mobile phone
please remember to let us know. If you
would like a new person adding to your
child’s emergency contacts list please let
us know via the school office.
Punctuality
Now that a new term has begun and the
weather is improving we would like to see
all of our school children in the classroom,
ready to learn at 8.50am each morning.
Children can come into school when the
doors open at 8.40am. Learning begins at
8.50am promptly and so it is important that they are
punctual.
REMINDER - Holidays Taken in Term
Time
Following strong advice from both the government
and the local authority, the governing body will not
authorise family holidays taken in term time other
than in exceptional circumstances. An example of an
exceptional circumstance might be if the parent has
fixed holidays from work, which will need
confirmation from the employer.
If you do choose to take unauthorised holidays
during term time you can be issued with a fixed
penalty notice.
Please complete a holiday request form available
from the school office or from the documents section
of our website at www.aldermancogan.co.uk. Thank
you.
IMPORTANT SAFETY MESSAGE
We are very grateful for the job the school crossing
patrol does in ensuring that our children can cross the
roads safely at the beginning and end of the school
day. We must ask that you have consideration for
this difficult job and slow down, preparing to stop if
requested to do so. There have been a couple of
near misses recently, endangering the crossing patrol
staff and our children.
Thank you!
Thank you for your continuing support.
