government took control in North Korea while a US backed government took
over South Korea.
____ UN forces are pushed south to the 38th parallel. Peace talks begin 1951
and a cease-fire agreement is reached July 1953.
____ North Korean troops cross the 38th parallel and take control of most of
the peninsula.
____ General Douglas MacArthur led UN forces on a daring landing near the
port of Inch’ὅn. From there he was able to take the capital city and push
North Korean forces back across the 38th parallel.
___ Chinese Communists see advancing UN troops as a threat. They cross the
border and clash with UN forces.
