What do you ThInK?
In this series named “What
What do you ThInK?”
ThInK? we challenge you to find and solve model/simulation
errors.
Nr. 7 – Connectors Realization.
A student is trying to create spot welds for a couple of components in his model which are
5units apart using HyperMesh:
The student select the nodes where he want to create welds, both components and click
create to create spot weld connectors.
But it turns out to be un-realized
realized (indicated by red connectors in the image above) . What
do you think is missing when modelling the welds?
What do you ThInK?
What’s wrong? How to solve it?

Nr. 7 – Connectors Realization.
Tolerance plays an important role in realizing the connectors. Tolerance is the minimum distance
between the nodes of two components. Based on this tolerance value, a link detection is performed
during connector creation.
In this example, the tolerance is given as 1 but the minimum distance between nodes of two
components is 5.
