Keynote Speaker
Jeanine Fitzgerald
Jeanine Fitzgerald is the founder of The Fitzgerald
Institute of Lifelong Learning, which focuses on
empowering children, parents and professionals
to promote social, emotional and behavioral
competencies. She is also an author, trainer,
educator and consultant in the fields of education,
disabilities and mental health. Drawing on more
than 35 years of experience empowering parents,
professionals and all those interested in young
people, Jeanine understands the promise of all
children, as well as the diversity of their needs. Her work honors “the
hero within” every child and adult.
In Jeanine’s keynote, “Seven Paths to a Whole-Hearted Life,” she shares
her research-based findings that answer the question, “What really
matters?” After observing human behavior for nearly 40 years, she has
identified the patterns that lead to a lifestyle of hope, fulfillment and
authenticity. Jeanine reveals seven paths to living a vibrant and wholehearted life.

Fun Spot
at the GSEM Volunteer Conference
While the adults attend the Conference, girls can spend the day having
tons of fun: participating in arts and crafts, sports and games, STEM
activities and more. Adults are required to register for conference and
stay on site.

MEDIC First Aid and CPR Recertification ($30)
This course is for those whose First Aid and CPR certifications are
about to expire or have expired within 30 days of the session. Separate
registration required.
Troop Pathway Orientation
New troop volunteers get answers to the 10 most frequently asked
questions about starting a troop. Learn about membership requirements,
meeting locations, troop bank accounts, strategies for involving girls’
families, safety guidelines, start-up costs, uniforms and the online
Volunteer Toolkit for grades K-5.
Required for new troop volunteers
Prerequisite: successfully completed Verified Volunteers
Daisy Essentials
Discover the fundamentals of leading a Daisy troop, including the Girl
Scout Leadership Experience and The Girl’s Guide to Girl Scouting. Learn
about Journeys, Daisy petals and how to incorporate the online Volunteer
Toolkit into meeting planning.
Required for new troop volunteers Prerequisites: Girl Scouting 101, Troop Pathway Orientation
Brownie Essentials
Discover the fundamentals of leading a Brownie troop, including the
Girl Scout Leadership Experience and The Girl’s Guide to Girl Scouting.
Learn about Journeys, Brownie badges and how to incorporate the online
Volunteer Toolkit into meeting planning.
Required for new Brownie troop volunteers
Prerequisites: Girl Scouting 101, Troop Pathway Orientation
Junior Essentials
Learn to guide and mentor Juniors as they develop leadership skills.
Develop strategies to promote a girl-led environment and successfully
implement Journeys and badges for a well-rounded and fun experience.
Also covered: the online Volunteer Toolkit, behavior management, girl-led
planning and additional awards.
Required for Junior troop volunteers
Prerequisites: Girl Scouting 101, Troop Pathway Orientation
Encampment Director Training
This session covers encampment director requirements and
responsibilities including: assessing service unit readiness, planning
timelines, safety policies and procedures, girl-led planning, program
ideas and property information.
Required for coordinators of service units or large group camp experiences
Prerequisites: past participation in one encampment, Brownie Camping or Junior
Camping program, and Troop Camping Skills—Tent. Encampment Directors must
also be First Aid and CPR certified.
Journey Take Action Projects
Troop volunteers for all grade levels will explore what Take Action means,
learn how to implement Journey Take Action projects, and gain resources
to help their girls plan a successful Journey Take Action project.
Cookie Sales Success
Hear directly from GSEM’s Product Sales Team, top-selling troops,
and fellow troop volunteers about best practices for a successful Girl
Scout Cookie Program, including sales and goal-setting techniques for
individual girls and troops.

Traveling with Girls
Learn how to implement a troop travel plan with your girls, and follow
our proven step-by-step plan to amazing adventures. Includes tips on
budgeting as well as what to do before, during and after the trip.
Bronze Award Orientation
Explore ways to support Juniors as they brainstorm, develop and
implement a successful Bronze Award project.
Service Unit Team Role Trainings
Designed for new service unit coordinators, membership promoters, and
treasurers to learn more about their role and responsibilities.
Prerequisite: Appointed member of a 2016-2017 service unit team
Bringing Girl Scout History to Life with GSEM Museum Kits
Learn more about the history of Girl Scouting and how you can bring
Girl Scout traditions to life with GSEM Museum program kits. Kits
includes program materials, directions and supplies, on topics like Active
Citizenship, Girl Scout Fashion Shows, Ceremonies & Celebrations, and
100 Years of Girl Scout Traditions.
Volunteer Roadmap to Conflict Resolution
Discover how you personally approach conflict. Then learn tactics to
identify true conflict, self-mediate with others, and know when to ask
for help. GSEM will also share the new Volunteer Relations process for
conflict resolution.
Session 3
1:30 - 4:30 PM
MEDIC First Aid & CPR Blended Learning ($60)
This course is offered in two parts: an online session and a hands-on
skills session with an instructor. The online portion must be completed
prior to the skills session, and you must complete both portions to be
certified. Separate registration required.
Financing the Fun
Help bridge the gap between the fun girls want to have, the finances that
need to be earned, and the GSEM volunteer policies and procedures that
must be followed. Leave with tools to set funding goals with girls, draft a
troop budget, negotiate troop dues, participate in product sales and plan
additional money-earning activities.

Learn how to aid Cadettes in brainstorming, developing and
implementing a successful Silver Award project.
Outing in Scouting
Discover GSEM’s Outdoor Experience opportunities and have fun with
hands-on activities from Girl Scouts’ outdoor-focused badges.
Passing the Leadership Torch
Designed for incoming and current Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador
volunteers to help connect older girls to exciting opportunities exclusive
to them. Share and hear from other volunteers about alternative
pathways and best practices for girl-led experiences.
Daisy Volunteer’s Bag-of-Tricks
Leave this session with a bag full of ideas for easy-to-implement
ceremonies, SWAPS, songs and bridging traditions for Daisy Girl Scouts.

Brownie Volunteer’s Bag-of-Tricks
Leave this session with a bag full of ideas for easy-to-implement
ceremonies, SWAPS, songs and flying-up traditions for Brownie Girl
Scouts.

Making the Girl Scout Program Accessible to All
Learn how to adapt activities to accommodate physical and/or learning
challenges and how to bring girls of all abilities to large programs and
GSEM properties.
