GENERAL INFORMATION
- Brass materials meet or exceed AWWA C-800 (latest revision)
- Copper tubing has a 13/16" O.D. for 5/8", 5/8" x 3/4" or 3/4" meter setters, 1 1/8" O.D. for 1" meter setters, 1 5/8" for 1 1/2" meter setters and 2 1/8" for 2" meter setters.
- Meter swivel nuts with meter support saddle are standard, except on tandem style meter setters.
- All copper meter setters can be supplied with a test valve on the outlet tubing.
- Solder is no-lead.
- For dual check backflow valves, see Dual Check Section.
- EPDM rubber gaskets are furnished as standard. Contact factory for fiber or leather gaskets.
- Brace eye hole accepts 1/2" iron pipe or PVC for 5/8", 5/8" x 3/4" and 3/4" meters and 1" vertical meter setters.
- All meter setters are factory tested air under water at 85 PSIG.
- Brace eye hole accepts 3/4" iron pipe for PVC for 1", horizontal meter setters.
- Brass support bar is standard on 18" and higher meter setters.
- Meter setter heights over 24" available on special order.
- All meter swivel nuts have wire seal hole.
- Brace eye hole accepts 1" iron pipe or PVC for 1 1/2" & 2", horizontal meter setters.
- Lockwing ball style meter valves are standard.

"Cut-In" Style Meter Setting: This setting is a quick and easy installation that involves cutting out a section of service line that is
approximately 1/2" longer than the brass bottom bar of the setter, cleaning approximately 3" of service line on both sides of the setter,
then slipping on the compression assemblies (sold separately) on to the service line. The setter is then inserted into the spacing, the

All A.Y. McDonald tandem copper setters are designed to provide the user with the option of placing an auxiliary device in addition to
a water meter in a space as small as 18" in diameter (see Table I). The auxiliary device could be a pressure regulator, pressure relief
valve, backflow preventer, etc. Table I shows typical lay lengths available for these devices. Other lengths can be provided. Contact our
customer service department for details.

WHAT IS No-lead BRASS?
A.Y. McDonald Mfg. Co. No-Lead Brass products meet the requirements of UNS
Copper Alloy C89833 per ASTM B584-09A. UNS Copper Alloy C89833 Mechanical
properties and Chemical composition have been certified by an independent
testing agency and are listed in ASTM specification B584-09A Copper Alloy Sand
Casting for General Applications (compositions and mechanical properties).
A.Y. McDonald’s No-Lead Brass contains a high percentage of copper and three
main alloying elements - Zinc, Tin and Bismuth.
Zinc is a potent alloying element in copper, imparting strength and hardness.
Tin is a potent solid-solution strengthener in copper, even more so than zinc.
Unlike zinc, tin also improves corrosion resistance.
Bismuth acts very much like lead in many respects. Unlike lead, Bismuth is not
known to be toxic in humans. Bismuth is lead’s neighbor on the periodic chart of
elements, making it’s behavior during casting and solidification similar. Bismuth
is nearly insoluble in copper and causes machining chips to break up into small,
easily removed particles.
