Celebrating the Winter Season at École Marigold! The past week has been one of joy and celebration at École Marigold. Monday started out with some new faces in the office; Isla and Faith from Division 7 joined the Marigold office team as Student Principal and Vice Principal for the Day! These two grade two students didn’t hesitate to show their best and within 15 minutes of the morning bell, they were behind the microphones in the gym hosting our first Winter Celebration Assembly. Not to be deterred by the 330 faces looking at them, these two girls stepped right up and announced a list of presenters, interspersing a few jokes as they went along. All in all, the majority of Marigold students had their moment in the spotlight, singing songs, dancing to some rock and roll beats and generally having a great time. Tuesday afternoon started out with an unexpected surprise. Spectrum Band, donning Santa hats, brought their instruments over to Marigold and played a variety of seasonal tunes during our lunch recess. The children had a great time dancing and singing along. Faith and Isla, who were experienced presenters now, took on a second show on Tuesday afternoon. This time it was for hundreds of Marigold family and friends. The job of Student Principal and Vice Principal involved a few treats, too. Thank you to PAC for providing some special cupcakes for the Principal’s “Tea.” Of course, Tuesday evening was a further night of cheer with the choir (under the musical direction of Mrs. Carruth), the Marigold Strings, (under the baton of Mrs. Whyte), and a variety of soloists who played the piano, drums and violin. Thank you to all of these performers and to those who provided support in the background: the ground crew who set up and took down equipment; the bakers who whipped up treats for the Bake Sale; the PAC who organized the Bake Sale.
