Annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Night
Milwaukee Brewers v. Pittsburgh Pirates, Miller Park August 26, 2016 @ 7:10pm
Milwaukee, WI—On Friday, August 26, at 7:10 pm, the Milwaukee Brewers take on the
Pittsburgh Pirates, as the Brewers and Major League Baseball partner with the National Law
Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund to host the 5th Annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Night,
at Miller Park. This special night is dedicated to honoring the service and sacrifice of law
enforcement officers, correctional officers, and their families, while raising awareness and funds
for the National Law Enforcement Museum, currently under construction in Washington, DC.
Pre-game festivities outside the ball park begin at 6:00 pm, and will feature a display from the
Police Unity Tour of Wisconsin and Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) Wisconsin Chapter.
The game’s opening ceremony will honor Wisconsin law enforcement officers who have been
killed in the line of duty, and recognize current officers who work each day in Milwaukee and the
State of Wisconsin. A special on-field ceremony will feature more than 20 law enforcement
honor/color guards from the Wisconsin Honor Guard Association including the Brookfield Police
Department, Caledonia Police Department, Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, Eau Claire County
Sheriff’s Office, Eau Claire Police Department, Fond Du Lac Police Department, Green Bay
Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office,
Menomonee Falls Police Department, Oak Creek Police Department, Pleasant Prairie Police
Department, Stoughton Police Department, Sun Prairie Police Department, Waukesha County
Sheriff’s Office, West Allis Police Department, Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office, Milwaukee
Corrections and Wisconsin State Highway Patrol.
The ceremonial first pitch will be thrown out by Detective Mike Klementz of the McFarland (WI)
Police Department in honor of Officer Ryan Copeland who was killed in a head-on collision
shortly after the start of his shift on November 23, 2015. Officer Copeland was en route to pick up
his canine partner, Boris, when the driver of the other vehicle crossed the center line striking
Officer Copeland.
"We are excited to partner with the Milwaukee Brewers and Major League Baseball for this
special evening honoring law enforcement. Each year the Milwaukee Brewers staff and
ownership has gone above and beyond to support and honor law enforcement” said Craig W.
Floyd, President & CEO of the Memorial Fund. “Coming together at Miller Park to honor our
nation’s law enforcement officers while enjoying a fun night of baseball is a great way to raise
awareness and funds for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. I’m thankful to
the Brewers for welcoming us each year.”
The Milwaukee Brewers will donate $5 from each law enforcement ticket sold directly to the
Memorial Fund in support of the National Law Enforcement Museum. Additionally, each ticket
sold will include a Milwaukee Brewers Law Enforcement Challenge Coin and every fan in
attendance will receive a free T-shirt.
