New movies opening May 23 at Science Center’s all new Digital Theater
“We the People: Three Words that Changed the World” and “D-Day 3D: Normandy 1944” open May 23
Louisville, KY (May 20, 2014) – The Kentucky Science Center’s all new, 4-Story Digital Theater opened
earlier this year and brought a full-fledged movie theater on line in the downtown corridor. Kentucky Science
Center is also the first science center in the world and first theater in Kentucky to incorporate new Precision
White Screen technology from RealD, Inc. featuring a smooth, white surface which generates a better image
contrast for improved viewing quality in 2D and 3D. To showcase this new technology, “D-Day 3D:
Normandy 1944” and “We the People: Three Words that Changed the World” will open to the public at the
end of this month and continue to play through the summer months.
Kentucky Science Center and 3D Entertainment Distribution invite audiences to step back in time with the
new documentary film “D-Day 3D: Normandy 1944,” opening at the Kentucky Science Center on May 23.
In May 1943, World War II is at its apex. To counter Hitler and the Axis forces, the Allies decide to open a
second front on the western side of Europe. The Allied forces, led by US General Eisenhower, have just
months to organize the operation code-named “Overlord,” with just a 50/50 chance of success, that will break
Hitler’s Atlantic Wall fortress and lead to the Battle of Normandy.
Narrated by renowned journalist and author Tom Brokaw, “D-Day 3D: Normandy 1944” provides a new,
penetrating look at this defining moment in history in a truly unique manner. D-Day itself is well-known, yet
few know in detail exactly why and how, from the end of 1943 through August 1944, this became the most
important location in the world.
Blending multiple cinematographic formats, including animation, CGI and stunning live-action images, “DDay 3D: Normandy 1944” brings this monumental event to the world’s largest screens for the very first time.
Exploring science, technology, engineering and mathematics, audiences of all ages, including new
generations, will discover from a new perspective in breathtaking 3D how this landing changed the course of
history.
The 70th anniversary of D-Day will be marked by national and local commemorations on both sides of the
Atlantic, including a weekend of activities at the Science Center.

“We the People: Three Words that Changed the World” will also premiere at the Kentucky Science Center on
May 23. This powerful giant screen historical documentary is the story of America’s founding documents and
the people who wrote, shaped and tested them. From men who would defy a king – to a man who would not
let the “more perfect union die – to women who struggled for equality, We the People delivers through the
giant screen a powerful national self-reflection and inspires every citizen to uphold the ideals and truths of our
Republic – tenets that so strongly influence all our daily lives.
Narrated by the iconic voices of Morgan Freeman and Kenny Rogers, We the People is meant to engage and
inspire its audience to learn more about and participate in our democracy. The nation’s finest constitutional
scholars, augmented by a non-partisan committee of prominent Americans, have overseen the making of this
film.
The magnificent buildings, monuments and memorials of Washington DC, archival paintings and photographs
from America’s great museums and dramatic reenactments of key events in Philadelphia, Boston, Mt. Vernon
and other historic locations come alive through the immortal words of Washington, Madison, Jefferson,
Lincoln, and Martin Luther King. Stunning special effects and giant screen surround sound create a truly
powerful storytelling experience.
