(b)
does not include a class of dog prescribed under a regulation.

Particular person’s obligations
Registration obligation
(1) This section does not apply to—
(a) the operator of a pound or shelter; or
(b) the owner of a dog less than 12 weeks old.
(2) An owner of a dog must comply with section 46 to register the dog in the relevant local
government’s area within 14 days after starting to keep the dog in the area unless the
person has a reasonable excuse.
Maximum penalty — 20 penalty units.
(3) A person who becomes an owner of a dog must comply with section 46 to register the
dog in the relevant local government’s area within 14 days unless the person has a
reasonable excuse.
Maximum penalty — 20 penalty units.
(4) It is a defence to a prosecution for an offence against subsection (2) or (3) for the
defendant to prove the dog is—
(a) a government entity dog; or
(b) a working dog; or
(c) another class of dog prescribed under a regulation.
