Autographed Ovechkin Jersey Donated Anonymously to
KVHA Auction
Kent Valley Hockey Association’s Registrar, Rena Sullivan,
was excited last week when a KVHA member brought in
the latest donation for the March 20th KVHA Auction. It
was a #8 Alex Ovechkin Washington Capitals Jersey
signed by the former Russia Dynamo player himself.
Sullivan held up the jersey and said; “I know some
people that are going to be bidding on this March 20th!”
Auction Team Emphasizes Ticket Sales
Now is the time for all KVHA members to help us with
outside ticket sales. Ask your friends, Family, Coworkers/BOSSES if they would like to attend are annual
fundraising auction. Get the girls from the office together
and have a group girls night out! Get that Hubby out for a
badly needed date night! Outside tickets sales are $50.00
each. A ticket form is available on the KVHA web. Click
here for the form. We appreciate all the extra help from
everyone.
The Auction Team is also looking for additional donations of bottles of wine. Members are
encouraged to bring in a bottle or two on their next trip to the ice rink. The wine collection
is always a popular item during the “Live Auction.” Thanks again to everyone involved in
making our 12th Annual the best ever!

Quote of the Day!
The True Meaning of Winning the Cup
Cup:
"To
To Have grown up in Montreal and then to play for the Canadiens was a dream come true
for me. Winning the Stanley Cup for Montreal was so special because everybody was a part
of it; it was such a source of pride for the people there. The expectations in those days
were to win, and anything but the Stanley Cup wasn’t really acceptable. We lived and
played by extremely high standards. We had some great teams in those days too, and I
cherish those memories. I was fortunate to have played alongside so many great players,
many of them who were heroes of my own when I was a kid growing up. Guys like Henri
Richard, Jean Beliveau, Yvan Cournoyer, and Claude Provost showed me the way, and then
I did the same for the next guys
guys. That was how it went, and that was
s why we had so much
success.”
Jacques Lemaire,, Stanley Cup winner with Montreal 1968, 1969, 1971,
1971 1973,
1976, 1977, 1978 and 1979. Lemaire also won two more Stanley Cups as
assistant general manager with Montreal in 1986 and 1993
1993.
Quote from Raising Stanley - NHL LEGENDS IN THEIR OWN WORDS by Ross Bernstein
Editor’s note:
Lemaire announced his retirement as a head coach in the NHL on April 26, 2010. However,
on December 23, 2010, after New Jersey Devils Head Coach John MacLean was fired after
33 games, Lemaire came out of retirement to coach once again for the New Jersey Devils
and led a second half of the season charge that fell just short of a playoff spot.
On February 10, 2011, Lemaire achieved his 600th regular season win after Ilya Kovalchuk
Kovalc
scored in overtime to win the game for New Jersey against Toronto 2 – 1. Lemaire became
only the 8th coach in NHL history to achieve this feat.
On April 10, 2011 Lemaire announced his permanent retirement from the Devils.
Lemaire is the uncle of former Stars, Wild, and Bruins goaltender Manny Fernandez.
There is a hockey arena in LaSalle, Quebec named after Lemaire.
