Someone Who’ll
Watch Over Me
H
By Frank McGuinness
Presented by special arrangement
with Samuel French Limited.
Three men, an Irishman, an
Englishman and an American,
chained to a wall, abused by unseen
captors. This is the grim setting for
Enniskillen Light Operatic’s first foray
outside of musical theatre with Frank
McGuiness’s 1992 play ‘Someone
Who’ll Watch Over Me’.
Yet the play itself is far from grim.
Based upon the experiences of those
kidnapped in Beirut in the 1980’s,
including Belfast man Brian Keenan,
the play explores the plight of these
three figures held against their will on
the edge of existence.

H
Brian Keenan has described the play
as ‘choking in its immediacy’ and that it
made him ‘laugh, cry and hold himself’.
An absorbing testimony to the power of
the human spirit, it is by turns funny and
sad, raucous and tender.

Borderline Players presents
Goody Two Shoes
A pantomime directed by Siobhan O’Brien
Bickering brothers, Coleman and Valene share a house
in the wild west of Ireland. One obsesses about his
religious ornaments and his precious poteen, the other
thinks only of his stomach, regularly crashing funerals
in his quest for a free sausage roll.
Borderline Players are back with their Easter
Pantomime, ‘Goody Two Shoes.’ Following the
success of ‘Old Mother Hubbard’ in 2015 and
‘Robinson Crusoe’ in 2016, ‘Goody Two Shoes’
promises to be another epic tale for all ages.
Their local priest, troubled by a spate of murders in the
area, tries, and fails, to convince the squabbling pair to
set aside their petty differences. But when the brothers
vow to be nicer to one another and wipe the slate clean
by confessing to a string of vile misdemeanors towards
one another, things can only degenerate into vicious
and bloody carnage.
Septica, an evil sorceress, has left her magic shoes
with the Elf Cobbler for mending, and as they are her
only comfortable pair, she is far from pleased when
Goody Coddle appears wearing them.
‘The Lonesome West’ is the third play in Martin
McDonagh’s bleak but blackly comic Leenane trilogy.
Please note: this play contains strong language.

Take a trip down memory lane with this superb
double bill! The Smokie Experience and Bay
City Rollerworld pay tribute to two of the
biggest hit making acts of the 70s and 80s!
Playing hits such as ‘Living Next Door To
Alice, ‘Mexican Girl’ ‘Oh Carol’, ‘Needles And
Pins, ‘Bye, Bye, Baby’, ‘Shang A Lang’ and
many more.
A hit filled memory jogging fun filled trip into
the past to a time when flares, platforms, big
hair, Top of the Pops, clackers, chopper bikes,
space hoppers and Creamola foam were all in
vogue.
Based on the book by Jane Talbot, ‘The Faerie Thorn’ will
recreate Talbot’s dark, imaginative and bewitching tales,
propelling the audience into a world of devilish debts, trysts
and trades, broken bargains and unjust trials; of magic,
quick-wittedness, hoodwinking and revenge.
The stories inhabit an incredibly vivid and dangerous world
controlled by a complex fairy mafia including factions like the
memory takers, the time keepers, the bad talkers and trolls,
which humans tackle at their peril.
Over the past thirty years, Big Telly have carved a reputation
as bold, risk-taking theatre makers, and ‘The Faerie Thorn’
production will be a vibrant, contemporary, physical theatre,
incorporating masks, movement and illusion.
‘The Faerie Thorn’ will be witty, dark and wickedly comedic
dealing with inexorable human tensions in a way that is
shocking and yet terrifyingly familiar.
Please note: this performance contains some strong
language and is suitable for 14+ years.
