Manipulatives
Specific to each Theme, the manipulatives support all Learning Place for
Afterschool Math activities, stimulate learning, and bridge concepts from
the concrete to the abstract.
Literacy Connections
A Theme-related InfoTrek® or WorldScapes®
literacy book is included to provide opportunities
to build literacy skills by reading about math in
the context of a story. Math links to literacy are
emphasized to support cross-curricular instruction,
allowing afterschool teachers to connect multiple
subject areas. Teacher’s Notes for each literacy
title are included and provide activities related to
each book. Six copies of one title are included in
each Theme Kit. Titles are separately available
in Spanish.
Each Theme Kit includes a fun game to review the
Theme content. Each game is easy for the teacher
to implement and easy for the students to learn.
