Course Description:
The primary aim of the course is to familiarize students with the majos genres of English
literature cultivated through the ages from the Renaissance to the post-modern era. The course
is divided into three main parts covering the three major literary genres – poetry, drama and
fiction – represented by illustrative works of the most outstanding authors. Our readings
embedded in literary-historical context, will focus on both the characteristic genre-specific
features and the individual artistic merits of the chosen pieces, paving the way toward the
more professional deaalings with literary works in the regular and special literature courses to
come.
Assessment will be based on the performance of the assigned tasks (in-class activity,
individual presentations, end-term paper).
