(see AIA Executive Board minutes Nov 16 on line) ● 28 Conference appeals were presented with intense discussion. The board felt this group could do the work with great care and diligence. ● Transgender policy presented for further discussion at a later date. AIA Executive Board Report: Sister Lynn Winsor, AIAAA Representative ● Added that the Board was supportive of the committee’s work on conference alignment and continues to look to supporting the group’s effort to represent the membership. NFHS Report: Dr. Anna Battle ● No NFHS report at this time. ● Added that the Board was genuine and listened to each appeal shared. AIAAA Report: Marcus Williams ● Need names to go to AIAAA Board tomorrow for conference representation. ● If anyone has names to submit , please contact Marcus ASAP. At this time names to be submitted: o 6A rep­ Marcus Williams o 5A rep­ Corey Newland AIAAA planning National committee assignments tomorrow, everyone is welcome to attend. Meeting notes for 5A Conference: ________________________________________________________________________ Region Alignment: Committee reviewed and discussed 5 region proposals. The final recommendation for region alignment was made with a focus on valuing region play and providing positive game time experiences for all schools in the 5A Conference. Motion​

: 7 ­ Yes 4 ­No Passed by majority vote State Qualifying: MaxPreps Power Rating ● Discussion focused on the use of the existing AIA Maxpreps power rating system. ● All 6A/5A/4A conferences need to be consistent in the use of the AIA Maxpreps system. ● Schools will be rewarded for strength of schedule. ● Tournaments and invitationals do not currently count. ● The AIA Maxpreps power rating system ​

: For all team sports, Region champs will earn automatic entry to the state tournament. Remaining spots for the tournament will be filled by schools seeded highest by AIA Maxpreps power ranking system that are not region champions. Unanimous Scheduling Discussion: “Home and Away” Region Play ● Discussions will continue with all member schools about “home and away” play for all team sports except football and soccer. ● Conferences will bring back input for further discussion. Scheduling Discussion: Format for Non­Region scheduling ● Committee members were assigned regions to contact and start the dialogue about gathering scheduling information for football “non­ region” games only. (See list below) ● Each school will complete a short football questionnaire about scheduling preferences. This information will be collected and used by conference representatives for scheduling. Scheduling Discussion: Region scheduling ● Committee members were assigned regions to contact and start the dialogue for their future region leadership. Jim Dean/Jim Braden 3 Scheduling Discussion: Timeline Review ● Discussion about moving football scheduling timeline back to allow greater input from member schools. ● Each region will submit their region schedule , no dates or weeks assigned. ● Each conference has made a commitment to ensure full scheduling opportunities for the outlying areas. ● Schools who are planning on playing out of state schools must submit their requests to their conference representative no later than the scheduling meeting date. Schools do not have to commit to the date or out of state school at this time however it is important to submit the “intent” to schedule out of state. ● Schools are encouraged to work with their coaches and complete the football questionnaire in a timely manner prior to the conference scheduling date. Scheduling Discussion: Format/Protocols ● Current Conference leadership will be present for scheduling meeting. ● District Athletic Directors will be the finalizing their district schedules. ● Schools without district representation will have a designated representative present from the 6A/5A/4A subcommittees. ● Tentative conference scheduling date: January 12 @ Xavier 9:00am Good of the order: ● 2015 Mesa City Sports Hall of Fame – flyer distributed by Steve Hogan All are invited to celebrate 4
