The 8th grade trip to Chicago has been a long-standing tradition at Woodland Middle School. We are pleased to announce
this year’s 8th Grade Luncheon Cruise aboard the Spirit of Chicago. The Woodland PTA, as it has in years past, has generously
contributed $6500 to help defray the cost to our eighth grade students. The PTA’s support has allowed us the ability to provide
a quality, memorable trip at a reasonable cost. Information pertaining to this year’s trip can be found below:
Itinerary
7:30 AM
Students report to Woodland Middle School
8:45 AM
Coach busses depart for Navy Pier, Chicago.
11:00 AM
Spirit of Chicago sets sail from Navy Pier
3:45 PM
Approximate arrival back at school - Please be at school to meet your child.
Cost
The cost of the tour is $55.00 per person. This cost includes: transportation, all sightseeing, chaperones, lunch, taxes, and tips.
If you are interested in having your child participate in this exciting tour, please return your payment (payable to Woodland
Middle School) along with the completed application form to his/her homeroom teacher. Payment must be received by
Friday, March 7, 2014.
Eligibility Requirements
Participation in the 8th grade trip is a privilege. Students who have been unable to follow the behavior expectations at school
may be denied participation in the trip. Similarly, since this trip is, in part, a reward for successfully completing their eighth
grade year, students who retain Academic Warning status will not be eligible to participate as well. (Woodland School District

Dress Code
Please refer to Pg. 49 of Student Handbook: Girls - dresses, skirts, capris, slacks, blouses are suggested. Spaghetti strap,
backless, or strapless dresses or dresses that show the midriff are not appropriate. Boys - dress pants, khakis, button down
shirts, ties (if desired) are acceptable. Additionally, students must comply with the somewhat stricter dress requirements
established by the Spirit of Chicago. The Spirit of Chicago specifically discourages the following: flip-flops, cutoffs, shorts,
blue jeans, T-shirts, or tank tops. Backless shoes must have a strap. Also, shirts must have a collar or banded collar.
Cancellation Fee
Cancellations after May 1st for any reason will be subject to a $30.00 per person fee. If a student makes a reservation but loses
the privilege to attend, the cancellation fee still applies. Refund checks take 4-6 weeks to process.
