GUIDE TO INSTALLING EBOOKS
Software Required For eBooks
iPads:
The following Apps need to be downloaded from the App Store: Blue Fire reader, iBooks, Snapplify,
Shuters
Android Devices:
The following Apps need to be downloaded from the Play Store: Blue Fire reader, Snapplify, Shuters
Laptops:
Blue Fire Reader - http://www.bluefirereader.com/windows-app.html

Adobe ID
In order for your eBooks to work, they need to be authenticated with an Adobe ID which is used in
the Blue Fire software.
If you do not have an Adobe ID, please go to the following link to create one: www.adobe.com
and click on the sign in button to create your account.
Which Software to use for which eBooks
1. iBooks: You will use this ereader to open all setwork books provided in a pdf format by the
school.
2. Snapplify : This ereader will be used for any eBooks you have personally purchased from
Pickwick, as well as the following eBooks ordered through the school on your book order
form:
a. Grade 8 and 9 – Classroom Maths voucher
b. Grade 10,11 and 12 – Mind Action Series Maths voucher
c. Grade 10 – Computers Part Of Your Life voucher
3. Shuters: This e-reader will be used to open the Grade 8 and 9 technology eBooks.
4. Blue Fire: This e-reader will be used to open all eBooks downloaded from the My Studies
website (vouchers that were emailed to you as well as vouchers from DC Creations). It can
also be used to open the free eBooks supplied by the school on Android and Windows
devices.
Installing the eBooks
If you have completed your book order form and handed it in and paid for the books by the 31st
October, the majority of your eBooks will be automatically added to your My Studies library and
your username and password will be emailed to you. If you are an existing student at Collegiate, you
may already have a username and password for this website which you used when purchasing
eBooks from them this year.
Installing eBooks From My Studies
You will follow these steps to download all vouchers that were emailed to you, any DC Creations
vouchers you received from the school (LO, Natural Science or Gr10 Geography). Once you have
received your username and password for My Studies via email or if you need to create a new
account, please logon to their website: www.mystudies.co.za/customer
Click on the register button for a new account, or login and navigate to the library tab.
Next click on the download button underneath the eBook displayed
It will then download an .acsm file to your laptop.
Please note the following instructions depending on your device:


If you have a windows device (windows tablet, laptop or netbook), it will have downloaded
the file to your downloads folder unless you have specified another location. When you have
located the file, right click on it, and select open with – blue fire reader. It should then
import the book into the reader. Do this for all eBooks listed in your My Studies library.
If you are downloading the eBooks on an iPad or an Android device from the My Studies
website, once you click on the download button, it should pop up with a menu asking you
which software you want to open the file with: ….select Blue Fire e-reader.
Installing eBooks from Shuters
This software is used only for the Grade 8 and 9 Technology text book which are available for free
from Shuters for a period of one year.
In order for you to obtain it as a free copy, it needs to be downloaded before the end of January
2016.

Installing the app:
For iPads – go to the APP store and search for “Shuters” and download the app.
For Android Devices – go to the Google Play store, search for “shuters” and download the app.
For Windows users – go to their website: https://online.shuters.com and click on the windows icon at
the top to download the app. Sometimes, it might prompt you also to install the Microsoft.net
framework, go ahead and install it by following the prompts.

Creating an account and downloading the eBook:
1. Go to their website: https://online.shuters.com
2. Click on register in the top right hand corner
3. Complete the necessary details and click on register button on the bottom.
4. Once you have created your account, click on the “back to store button as per below”.
5. Type the word “technology” in the search bar.
6. Depending on your daughter’s grade, scroll down to search for either the Grade 8 or 9
LEARNERS EBOOK. Make sure you do not select the teacher’s guide.
7. Click on BUY.
8. Then click ADD TO CART
9. Then go to the top of the page and click on checkout.
10. In the following window, click on “get trial licences”.
11. You have now successfully downloaded your ebook.
12. You will now go to the app either on your iPad, android device or laptop.
13. Open the app and login with the account you created.

14. Then Click on MY LICENCES
15. You will be required to login again.
16. Then click on the download button underneath the Ebook.
17. Once it has completed downloading, your book will then be available in “My Library”

Installing eBooks from Snapplify:
1. This e-reader will be used for any eBooks you have personally purchased from Pickwick as
well as the following eBooks ordered through the school on your book order form:
a. Grade 8 & 9 – Classroom Maths voucher
b. Grade 10,11 & 12 – Mind Action Series Maths voucher
c. Grade 10 – Computers Part Of Your Life voucher
2. Download the app from the relevant location according to your device as per instructions
above listed under the heading “software required for eBooks”.
3. To redeem a voucher that you have received from the school or from Pickwick directly,
follow the instructions below:
4. Go to the following website: https://pickwick.snapplify.com/register and create an account.
5. Once you have created an account, login.
6. Next, click on the redeem voucher tab
7. Then enter the voucher number you have been provided with.
8. Check that the eBooks it has listed is the correct one, and then click on redeem. Another
window will pop up, click on continue at the bottom of the page. Your book has now been
added to your library. Do this for all vouchers labelled Snapplify or Pickwick. Please note:
The only Snapplify vouchers that this does not apply to is the Grade 10-12 Mind Action
Series Maths EBooks. Instructions for these textbooks are listed further down.
9. Once all vouchers have been redeemed, open the Snapplify app on your device.
10. Login and navigate to the Library tab. Under this tab, you should see all the eBooks that you
redeemed vouchers for on the Pickwick website. Click once on the eBooks and select
download below. Do this for all eBooks listed. Once you have downloaded all your books,
they should all appear under the Reading tab.
REDEEMING GRADE 10-12 MIND ACTION SERIES MATHS,PHYSICAL SCIENCE AND LIFE SCIENCE
VOUCHERS:
1. Go to the website: https://mindactionseries.snapplify.com
2. Click on the sign up button at the top and create an account. Please note: If you have
already created a Snapplify account on the Pickwick website for other vouchers, you DO NOT
need to create another account, simply login with those credentials.
3. Click on the redeem voucher tab and enter the voucher code you were given.
4. Click on continue.
5. Follow steps 11 and 12 above to finish downloading your eBook.
