Peter Flihan - Grand Lodge of New York

Peter Flihan - for the office of Grand Treasurer
VISION STATEMENT:
I look forward to pursuing
a standard of service that exceeds the minimally
stated Constitutional duties of the Grand Treasurer by assisting the Grand Master in bringing our
Fraternity to its greatest potential and remembering
that the Grand Lodge’s most important job is to
ALWAYS serve the Brethren.
My Masonic Story: Since being appointed District Deputy Grand Master in the 1st WestchesterPutnam District by GM Gilbert, I have had the privilege to serve the Brethren in Grand Lodge, in
several appointments, in every year since 2008. During this time, I have had the honor to be a
part of the success of various projects, with many Brothers, in different arenas. I pride myself in
being a Brother who values teamwork over titles; one who practices a leadership rooted in
service, not self-service. Grand office in your Grand Lodge is not a reward; it is a responsibility.
My Community Story: I am an active volunteer firefighter with over a decade of service, including
2 years as Lieutenant and 2 years as Captain (commanding officer) of the Hook & Ladder Company
of the Briarcliff Manor FD. I declined requests to run for Chief, as I had already committed myself
to serve as your Junior Grand Deacon. I have also served on two (2) church vestries, most recently
as the Junior and then the Senior Warden (lay leader) at St. Paul’s On-The-Hill Episcopal Church.
My Professional Story: Graduating with a BA degree in Economics from Fordham University in
1986, I first worked as a foreign currency broker. Hired to manage a $5 million customer base, I
quickly grew it to $25 million. I then moved into a 14 year career as the international sales
manager of a $10 million/year import company where I was responsible for both Accounts
Payable and Receivable, as well as managing domestic customer service. Since leaving that job, I
have been a commercial actor for the past 15 years.
