Preschool and Kindergarten go to Kenya
International Fun Day is a yearly event during
National Lutheran Schools Week and this year was
no exception as the children in our preschool and
kindergarten learned as the teachers took them on a
tour of Kenya. Special guest Heather McKinley,
from the Kenya Children’s Fund visited our school.
She shared with the children about the area where
our adopted sister, Alice lives. The children were a
little troubled by the fact that Alice’s home is
located in a dump. Heather also came dressed in
traditional clothing from Kenya, wore a beautiful
set of jewelry especially created for her by a friend
in Kenya. The children also played with a masai
doll and had a chance to taste ugali or corn meal
mash. A grand time was enjoyed by all.

Calendar Change
Please note two significant changes to the
March Calendar. First, there is no Spring
Musical as stated on the calendar. The
Christmas Program took its place. Second,
the K-8 teachers are attending the Lutheran Education
Association’s National Teachers Convocation in Cincinnati, OH. March 23 is now a NON-SCHOOL
DAY due to the fact that the teachers are now traveling by bus due to air fares being so outrageously high.
We sincerely apologize for any inconveniences these
changes are causing you.
SPREADING HOPE
EASTER “CARE” BASKETS
Soon the 800 Hope bookmarks that
our school children and members of
the congregation made for the
students at the Kinyago-Dandora
Schools (KDS) in one of the poorest regions of Nairobi, Kenya will
be on their way! Thank you! And
NOW you have another opportunity to continue to
spread hope to these children, their families and
needy neighbors who live near the schools.
Art Fair
Our Savior Lutheran School is looking for individuals with an art background to judge our art fair the
afternoon of April 12th.
To volunteer, please call the school
office 952.474.5181 ext. 18 or
Linda Bergan ext. 35. Your help
will be appreciated!
We are hoping to demonstrate to our students that
creating art can be a meaningful and fulfilling activity
throughout life. So we are looking for people from
the school community who create art and would be
willing to display their art at the fair on April 12th.
Please call our Artist in Residence, Ray Frigard at
952-472-5030, if you are interested in participating.
Easter Care Baskets ($15 each) contain basic food
necessities to sustain a student's family for one
month. Because most of the students depend upon
breakfast and hot lunch as their only meals of the day,
they do not receive adequate nutrition while on their
month long Easter break. The children often return to
school with significant weight loss and illnesses associated with malnourishment.
Finally, all the students of our school, preschool
through eighth grade are participants in the Art Fair.
Students in grades 1-8 are required to enter a project
We invite you to prayerfully consider a donation of
and have received packets outlining the projects. The
