Public transport
• Double public transport patronage from 60.6
million trips in 2009-10 to 121 million trips by
2022 (subject to additional funding).
• By 2040, 45% of trips in the morning peak are
targeted to be non-car based (currently 23%)
and the number of public transport trips per
person per annum will have increased from 44
to 100.

Suggested 2,500 ha over 30 years based on Manukau historical data

Recent decline (owing to GFC) and uptake to order of 20 ha / year – taken into account
Recommendation
1.
That at least 1,400 ha of new business land, in addition to the already committed 450 ha, be
allowed for in areas of investigation noting that business land uptake will be monitored annually
