Course Requirements:
 Three fifty-minute tests, each worth 12% of the final grade;
 two 4-5 pp. papers, each worth 22%;
 a 4-5 pp. comprehensive final essay, worth 20%;
Course Policies:
 I expect you to be in class every day, actively paying attention and taking notes.
 You will be writing three papers for this class. Before turning them in to me, you
will first need to submit them to the anti-plagiarism website, turnitin.com. I will
show you how to create an account and log in to the class drop box. My idea is to
eliminate any kind of question about documentation issues, because I won’t be
grading any papers unless they have a clean report from turnitin.com.

The only people authorized to help you with your papers are the Academic
Support Center tutors in Thompson Hall. Please do not let anyone else edit your
work!
I despise late papers. To encourage you to hand your work in on time, I will
penalize late papers with a sliding five point scale; i.e., five points for the first day
late; fifteen for the second (5+10); thirty for the third (5+10+15); and so on into
negative numbers if need be. Obviously, you will not be able to pass this class if
you have a seriously late paper.
You will need to use blue books for your three tests.
You must take all of the tests and hand in all of the work in order to be able to
pass the class. Unless you have an extremely compelling excuse for being
absent, do not ask me to allow you to make up a test.
