1) Look at pictures of Sochi and experience a new kind of Russia
2) Review locations and actions to do in those locations
3) Have fun playing games that show the relationship between words and their meaning

• Привет добрый вечер intro song

Activity 1
• “How are you”s: After the intro song each class,
we’ll spend five or so minutes doing “how are
you”s. The first activity is explaining this, and
going over “Privet” “kak dela” and the
responses “khorosho” “plokho” “tak sebe”

Activity 2
• Journey to Sochi
• Just like in our previous lessons, we are going to
show our transition to a new city with slides.
Pictures of Sochi, the countryside surrounding
it, etc will be shown. And we’ll ask
supplementary questions using vocab that they
have learned.
• At the end, there will be pictures once again of
the locations, and actions, and we’ll say them all
together

Activity 3
• Guessing game
• The students will stand facing once another,
one of them facing the computer screen. He will
see a picture of one of the actions that we have
covered, with a transliterated word beneath it.
The student who can’t see has to guess
• After a couple of tries, the instructors will also
get to play with them

• Races
• The students will form a line, and on the table
far in front of them will be a printed out
locations. The instructors will say a location in
Russian, and they have to run to grab the
location and bring it back
Activity 5
• Map game
• We’ll print out little maps of Sochi with specific
places that the students have learned
highlighted
• The students will take turns giving each
other/Madeleine and Andrew directions on
how to get somewhere they want, using
forward, backward, left, and right: прямо,
назад, налево, направо
• We can highlight a variety of parks and
museums, and let students count how many
there are. They can also count how many moves
it takes to get somewhere.
• When they get somewhere, they can ask Где
мы? And answer, to enforce those phrases.
