News from Year 4 Week beginning: 6th March 2017 Dear Parents, Y4 Home Learning Matrix: Drop Pins The current matrix of activities can be found on the Year 4 Home Learning Blog. Please ask your child’s class teacher should you need any extra information or resources. Portfolios Please check at home and return any portfolios for this current year to school. If you had taken a peek into 4T last week you would have met the Egyptian Minister for Food and Farming, the Egyptian Minister for Tourism, Leaders of the Egyptian Government, Temple experts, and some villagers from the local village of Aswan. We have moved on from identifying our personal heritage to considering world heritage. The Aswan Dam project would help to control the flooding of the River Nile and generate electricity which would help Egypt become an industrial country. However, this would come at the expense of some of Ancient Egypt’s most beautiful and important treasures, including the temples at Abu Simbal. We assumed the roles of the people who would be impacted and debated the pros and cons before taking a vote. We learned to listen to other people’s opinions and show empathy towards their feelings. And we were amazed when we learnt how UNESCO supported Egypt to construct the dam AND save the temples! PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) Our whole school PSHE theme for this half term is ‘Healthy Me’. You can support this learning at home by talking about healthy choices and looking again at your child’s Code of Conduct with them so that they can link this to their learning at school. We would love to receive any photos of your children making healthy choices so we can add them to our celebration display. Save the Date Parent Workshop Update Due to internal meeting clashes, the Learning Collaboratively Workshop scheduled for Tuesday, March 14th has been cancelled.
