Absolute Monarchs by Jacob Spangler

Absolute Monarchs
by Jacob Spangler
Monday marked the final day that the World
History II classes had to finish their Absolute
Monarchs term 2 projects. The purpose of this
terms project was to allow the students to gain
a greater appreciation and depth of knowledge
pertaining to the Absolute Monarchies of Europe.
Each student was to create and present a poster
for their fellow classmates in the form of a gallery
walk. All of the posters consisted of an Absolute
Monarch from either France, England, or Europe.
The posters were very creative, colorful, organized and include information such as:
1. Monarch's name, country they ruled, and the
years they ruled.
2. Position, Personal Information, nicknames,
etc
3. Notable accomplishments
4. Notable buildings / structures
5. Foreign Affairs: Wars fought (name and
year)
6. Domestic Issues: Internal affairs that
required a change in the country
7. And Finally a summary that addressed the
question: How did ______ demonstrate the
qualities of an absolute monarch?
The students not only had to create a poster, but they presented their information in
front of their peers in the form of a gallery walk. All of their work was lined up on the 3rd
floor from the office almost all of the way to the end of the hall. Mr. Harrison stated “The
students put a lot of time and effort into their project(s) and it showed. Their posters
were interesting and their presentations were heart felt.”
Overall the term II project was a success, and each of the classes came together with the
help of a handful of teachers and admin to vote for the best overall posters and most
unique/creative from each class. The winners of these awards will receive their choice
from a list of rewards.
The winners are as follows:
Best overall:
Minsuh Lee and Jiin Jung
Most Creative/Unique:
Alison Choi and Jun Kim
Again thank you to all of the students for their hard work and enthusiasm throughout
this project.
