For over 130 years, Morgan State University has been an important
part of the higher education system in the Baltimore area, the State of
Maryland, and the nation. Throughout its history, Morgan has served
the community with distinction while meeting the educational needs
of an increasingly diverse society. Its designation as Maryland's Public
Urban University assures that Morgan will continue to play a prominent role in Maryland's education future.
Morgan's mission is to serve a multi-ethnic and multi-racial student
body and to help ensure that the benefits of higher education are enjoyed by a broad segment of the population. To accomplish this, the
University offers a comprehensive program of studies at the undergraduate level and degrees in selected fields at the master's and doctoral level.
A high quality educational program is offered by a full-time faculty of
almost 300. In addition, Morgan's instruction is integrated with its
research and community service activities to help students comprehend howwhat they learn in the classroom can be applied to help
their immediate community and society as a whole. Morgan's research
programs produce important faculty contributions in a wide variety
of fields while involving undergraduate students who are motivated
and prepared for advanced study. Public service programs give both
the faculty and students an opportunity to work with and learn from
public schools, business, government, and the general public.
The past fifteen years has been a period of phenomenal growth and

ADMISSION DEADLINES
Fall Priority Consideration Deadline
If we receive your completed application packet by November 15
decision notifications will be released no later than February 15 (if
you are mailing documents, these must be postmarked by November
15). Students should apply by this date for best consideration for
merit-based scholarships and invitations to special programs.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
High School Applicants
Admission will be granted to high school students who meet the
following requirements:
1. 2.0 cumulative GPA
2. Combined math and verbal SAT score of 850 or a composite ACT
score of 17
G.E.D. Applicants
1. G.E.D. recipients must earn a score of 410 on each section of the
high school equivalency examination and at least a total score of 2250.
Transfer Applicants
Morgan State University welcomes applications from transfer students
from community colleges and four-year colleges and universities accredited by Maryland and/or a regional accrediting association. Students are expected to have a cumulative average of 2.0 from all colleges attended and to be "in good standing" at the last institution attended. Listed below are the admission requirements:
1. Transfer applicants with 11 or fewer transferable credits must
meet requirements as an entering freshman. Submit SAT/ACT
scores, official high school and college transcripts.
2. Applicants transferring between 12-23 transferable credits
must have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average in both
high school and college.
3. Applicants with 24 or more transferable credits must have at
least a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 from all colleges
attended.
Applications from transfer students with A.A. and A.A.S. degrees
earned from a Maryland community college will be evaluated as determined by the Maryland Student Transfer Policy. In all cases, the
transfer student must earn the last 30 credit hours toward the desired
degree from Morgan State University as a full-time or part-time
This is not an early decision program; all admitted students have until student.
June 15 to confirm their enrollment.
Fall Regular Application Date
Applications received by February 15 will receive an admission decision by April 15.
Applications received after February 15 will be reviewed on a rolling
and space-available basis. Decision notifications will be released no
later than June 1. April 15 is the last dayto applyfor the fall semester. Applications received after this point will be automatically considered for springadmission.
Confirmation Date
May 1 is the deadline for confirming fall enrollment.
Spring Deadline
Applications are due by January 15. Decisions will be released on a
rolling basis for spring (January) enrollment.

Transfer applicants: submit the completed application for admission, the admission essay, a letter of
recommendation from a college professor, an official transcript from all post-secondary institutions
attended, and a $35 non-refundable admission application fee. Transcripts must include grades through
your last semester of enrollment. Admission criteria vary among Morgan State University’s schools
and colleges. In general, a transfer student must transfer a minimum of 24 credit hours from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution, have earned a 2.0 cumulative grade point average and received a passing grade of C or better in both college-level English and college-level math courses.
Specific Transfer Requirements
• 0-11 *transferable credits from college with a G.P.A. of 2.0 or higher and meet the regular
freshmen requirements.
• 12-23 *transferable credits from college with a G.P.A. of 2.0 or higher as well as a G.P.A. of 2.0 or
higher from high school.
• 24 or more *transferable credits from college with a G.P.A. of 2.0 or higher.
*Please note: developmental and/or remedial classes are not transferable. Official high school
transcripts are required only for students who are transferring with less than twenty four (24) credits
from college.
