Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships – Call for

Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships
– Call for Expression of Interest
The Biological physics lab of Adiels/Goksör (University of Gothenburg) and Victor Torres
Company at the Photonics division (Microtechnology and Nanoscience, Chalmers University
of Technology) are seeking expressions of interest from potential postdoctoral researchers
wishing to apply for Marie Sklodowska Curie Individual European Fellowships. Selected
candidates will receive dedicated support from University of Gothenburg’s Grants and
Innovation Office to develop their proposal and application for submission to the European
Commission on September 14, 2017.
Who we are
The Biological Physics lab constitutes an interdisciplinary group of researchers establishing
and applying novel technology on biological and life science applications. Caroline Beck
Adiels and Mattias Goksör are sharing the leadership; one being a biologist and an expert in
the field of mammalian cells, single cell analysis and microfluidics; one being a physicist,
expert in optical trapping, image analysis and signal processing. Victor Torres Company leads
the research activities in Ultrafast Photonics and has expertise in laser frequency comb science
and technology, nonlinear integrated optics and fiber-optic communications.
The project(s)
The specific project focuses on aiming at developing a new, label-free strategy for optical
microscopy by exploiting laser frequency comb technology. This approach combines ultrafast
temporal resolution with continuous-time operation and is thus particularly well suited to study
dynamic biological phenomena with unprecedented statistical accuracy.
Furthermore, production of microfluidics, signal processing as well as interacting with
interdisciplinary collaborators both locally and abroad are all part of the daily work.
Candidates
We want candidates that can get a warm recommendation from her/his PhD supervisor - not
just half hearted. You do not have to be "magna cum laude", but should be among the top 25%
PhD students. You should have published 2-3 papers as first author.
Please note that according to the Marie Skłodowska-Curie mobility rule the applicant must
not have resided or carried out her/his main activity in Sweden for more than 12 months
in the 3 years immediately before the call deadline (14 September 2017).
Applications
Candidates are invited to submit their Expression of Interest to [email protected]
no later than July 7 2017.
The Expression of Interest should include:
1) Your CV including a publication list limited to a maximum of 2 pages
2) A one-page outline summarizing your major accomplishments (mentioning the purpose,
results, skills acquired, derived applications etc.); independent thinking and leadership
qualities; and potential to acquire new knowledge.
Please email this as a PDF file attachment, putting ‘Expression of Interest_optics” as your email
heading to [email protected].
Results will be announced in the week commencing July 10 2017.
