Sermon Discussion Guide
1-17-16
It’s important that God’s Word continues after the message. At Celebrate, we find that you will quite often talk
over this week’s message long after our experience is over. That’s because God has impact. The Sermon
Discussion Guide is designed to help you continue the conversation all week.
How to Earn the Respect of Others
Speaking with integrity allows us to develop relationships built on trust. Often times we lie
simply in order to protect ourselves; and sometimes we lie to ourselves because we don’t
want to have to face the truth. What is an area in your life in which you struggle with being
completely honest/trustworthy? What are you willing to do about it?
Psalm 51:10-12; Colossians 3:5-15
Serving with intentionality means focusing not so much on how you do something but why
you do it. Why is serving in love the key to developing an “others mindset”?
Philippians 2:1-11; James 3:13-18
Sharing with generosity frees our heart to love. Why is gratitude so important to our walk
with God?
Proverbs 11:25; Acts 2:42-47; John 13:34-35
Succeed with humility means that we don’t let our successes go to our heads! It has been
said that EGO stands for “Edging God Out” – success and make us me-centered rather
than Christ-centered. How does humility help us to become “others focused”?
Romans 12:1-5; James 4:1-10
Making It Personal
Pastor Keith challenged us to take a spiritual inventory of these four ingredients. Using a
scale from 1 to 5 – with 1 being “I am really bad at this”; to 5 being “I do this very well” –
rate yourself on each of these. Share with the group the one you are weakest at. What steps
can you take to improve in that area this coming week?
