Victory Programs’ Gratitude Dinner and the Manny Jefferson Awards
Tuesday, March 19, 2013
Florian Hall • Dorchester, MA
Gratitude Dinner
Gratitude Dinner was born in 1975 out of an impromptu gathering of a small group of men living at
our first program in the South End. With nowhere to go on Thanksgiving, the men cooked together
and shared stories of gratitude over a warm meal. That small gathering has since grown into an
annual dinner that today hosts more than 350 guests from the Victory Programs’ family, including
current and past clients, residents, staff, Board, friends, and supporters. The dinner provides an
opportunity to reflect on the things in our lives for which we are grateful: family, friends, shelter,
community, and health.
Manny Jefferson Awards
The Manny Jefferson Awards are presented at the Gratitude Dinner to special individuals or
organizations that have demonstrated excellence in volunteerism, a commitment to helping those in
our care, and improving our programs and services. The awards are named after the late Manny
Jefferson, a staff person who went above and beyond for the clients at Victory House.
