Student Directions:
● You will be making a metaphorical cell mini poster (printer paper). You may choose if you do a plant
or
an animal cell.
● Rather than making a normal diagram, you will draw the cell replacing the organelles with a
metaphor based on their functions.
○ For example, I won’t draw a nucleus at the center of the cell; I will draw a brain. I will
label it nucleus. When I label the brain “nucleus,” I am saying the nucleus is a brain which
is a metaphor.
● Use the cell diagram in your science book (or whatever resource you have available in your
notebook) to make sure you represent each organelle with a metaphor.
● Follow the rubric to make sure that you are meeting all of the requirements.
Part 2 Thinglink:
Part of your assignment is to draw your cell. The second part of your assignment is to
upload it to thinglink and complete your explanations electronically. Below are the
steps to get to and log into thinglink:
1.
Go to thinglink.com/login or download the thinglink app
2. Your username is your
last name
underscore
(_)
and the
first letter
of your
first name
@qqejv4.xk
. For example mine would be (chucci_a
@qqejv4.xk
)
3. Your password is gfms2016
4. Once in thinglink, click create in the top right hand corner. Upload your picture
from your google drive.
5. Click on an organelle. A box will pop up on the right hand side. This will give
you the options of typing or attaching media to the picture.
6. For each organelle provide an explanation of why you chose your
representation for the organelle. (Ex: This is the cell’s nucleus, I chose a brain to
represent the nucleus because the brain controls the human body just like the
nucleus controls the cell.)
7. 4 of your organelles: provide an extra media source (picture or video) to better
explain the organelles structure or function.
