Drums containing this chemical should be stored in a cool, dry place away from possible exposure to water, heat, acids, or organic matter. Spills should be swept up and placed in a clean, dry drum. Waste materials should be disposed of in accordance with local, state, or federal regulations. Shipping Containers Lithium hypochlorite is packaged and shipped in polyethylene-lined fiber drums containing 100 or 400 pounds (45.5 or 181.8 kg) of product and in 2000-lb. lined supersacks. Shipping Limitations Shipments of lithium hypochlorite for Industrial Sanitation/Disinfection use are shipped by Lithium Division under labeling requirements of: EPA Reg. No. 7675-5* Industrial Disinfectant and/or Sanitizer for repackaging use only Lithium hypochlorite cannot be transported by the Postal Service, but shipments by UPS, air, water, rail, or truck are acceptable within each carrier’s weight limits and packaging requirements. Shipments of lithium hypochlorite are described as: Lithium Hypochlorite, Dry, UN 1471. The product is shipped under Hazard Class 5.1 and requires an “Oxidizing Agent” label for both domestic and international shipments.
