JACK BATES – Jack Bates is a third generation farmer from Delta,
British Columbia who runs a mixed farming operation with his
brothers. The 450-acre farm includes potato, blueberry and dairy
operations. Jack is a past president of the Canadian Horticultural
Council (CHC) and is one of four CHC-approved representatives on the
CanAgPlus Board. Jack has contributed to numerous local and national
initiatives, and has been actively involved as a committee and Board
member with CanadaGAP since the program was launched in 2008.
HUGH BOWMAN – Hugh Bowman has been owner and Chief
Operating Officer of Bayshore Vegetable Shippers Ltd., and was
formerly president of Ippolito Fruit and Produce Ltd. He currently
leads Agri Group of North America. Hugh holds an MBA from the
University of Guelph and chairs the Food Safety Committee of the
Canadian Produce Marketing Association (CPMA). Hugh was part of
the integration team for CanadaGAP and has served as a CPMAapproved director on the CanAgPlus Board since September 2012.
KEITH KUHL – Keith was born and raised on a potato farm in
Southern Manitoba and now operates Southern Potato Co. together
with his two sons. Keith has been extensively involved with
horticultural industry initiatives at both the regional and national
levels. Among his many roles, Keith chairs the Board of Directors of
Peak of the Market, formerly served as chair of the Canadian Potato
Council, and is president of the Canadian Horticultural Council (CHC).
He is one of four CHC-approved grower representatives to the
CanAgPlus Board.

STEPHANIE LARIVIERE – With twenty years in the produce industry,
Stephanie currently holds the role of Regulatory Manager for Erie
James Ltd., a packer/shipper operation in Leamington, and Sunsation
Acres Ltd., a greenhouse operation in Kingsville, Ontario. Stephanie
received the Mary Fitzgerald Award from the Canadian Produce
Marketing Association (CPMA) in 2013 and is involved in numerous
industry committees, including a directorship with the Ontario
Greenhouse Marketers Association. She also serves as Vice Chair of
the CPMA Food Safety Committee and as a grower representative for
Food Safety for the Ontario Greenhouse Vegetable Growers.
Stephanie chairs the CanadaGAP Stakeholder Advisory Committee.
CATHERINE McKAY – Cathy McKay owns and operates a
successful farm business specializing in apples in Port Perry,
northeast of Toronto. With an MSc in Plant Pathology from the
University of Guelph, Cathy offers pest management consulting
services and has worked as a specialist with the Ontario
Ministry of Agriculture and Food. Cathy has served on several
boards including the Okanagan Plant Improvement Corporation
(PICO) and is currently vice-chair of the Ontario Apple Growers. She is one of four CHC-approved grower
representatives to the CanAgPlus Board. Cathy has been involved with the Ca CanadaGAP program since

JODY MOTT – Jody Mott is the Executive Director of the Holland Marsh
Growers’ Association, representing root crop producers and packers. She is an
independent business owner and has several years of experience serving on
not-for-profit boards, including the Bradford Board of Trade. She has assisted
many farmers implementing a food safety program. Jody has been involved in a
wide range of projects to promote the interests of farmers and is passionate in
her commitment to advancing agriculture.

acre apple orchard in the Montérégie region of Québec. A past
president of the Québec Federation of Apple Producers, Dean
has served on numerous boards and on local council, and was
elected mayor of St-Paul d’Abbotsford in 2009. Dean chaired
the national Crop Protection Committee for the Canadian
Horticultural Council (CHC) for over five years, and is one of four
CHC-approved representatives to the CanAgPlus Board.

SCOTT WRIGHT –Scott Wright is Senior Vice-President of Operations and
Human Resources with Star Group of Companies. Based in Saskatoon,
with locations across a North America, Star Group is dedicated to the
procurement, sales and distribution of fresh fruits and vegetables. Scott
oversees operations at eight locations across Western Canada. He
previously held the VP Food Safety and New Product Development
position for Star Group, and before that worked in government for
Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (Science and Technology Branch, AgriEnvironment Services Branch, Research Branch and Prairie Farm
Rehabilitation Administration), Saskatchewan Agriculture and Alberta
Agriculture. Scott holds Bachelor, Masters and PhD. Degrees in
agriculture.
