NARRABEEN TRACK & FIELD FACILITY UPDATE
The NSW Office of Sport, which manages the Sydney Academy of Sport and Recreation
Narrabeen and 20 other State Government owned sporting facilities across NSW, advised
the Club on 3 March 2017 that they submitted a proposal to the NSW Treasury for the refurbishment
of the Narrabeen Athletic Track. This proposal will be considered for funding in the 2017/18 NSW State
Both the Sydney Pacific Athletic Club and Manly Warringah Little Athletics greatly appreciate the
ongoing support from the Federal Member for Mackellar, Jason Falinski, MP. On 9 February 2017 Jason
sent an email (below) to the 1000+ supporters who signed the Jason Falinski led petition of the
Narrabeen Track & Field facility upgrade:
Thanks to your support, we are a step closer to upgrading the Narrabeen athletics track. Below
is an update on where we are up to in our fight.
Front L to R: Vicki Busse, President, Manly Warringah Little Athletics; Jason Falinski MP, Federal
Member for Warringah; Robert McEntyre, President, Sydney Pacific Athletic Club
1. NSW Sports Minister - I have met and spoken with the NSW Sports Minister and his
team a number of times. The Minister has indicated that, given the community support
and support of Local MPs, funding for the track in this year's State Government budget is
a strong possibility.
2. Federal Sports Minister - I am in discussions with the Federal Sports Minister in
Canberra to see how the Federal Government can help.
3. National media - I have been in touch with national media and there is interest in running
a story in support of upgrading the athletics track. More to follow.
Our petition www.fairshare4thebeaches.org.au is still online and every signature counts.
Please share the petition with your friends.
I will keep you updated.
Yours sincerely,
Jason Falinski MP
