ALICE SMITH ELEMENTARY WINTERFEST CARNIVAL Warm up at the 2009 Winterfest Carnival Friday, January 30th, 2009 5:30 – 8:30 pm This packet is your way to learn what’s going on at this year’s Winterfest Carnival, to pre-order tickets (and save time at the Carnival), and to find out how your family can help to make Winterfest a successful and fun event. Questions, comments or suggestions? Tiphanie Dirnberger, 938-3196 Beth Jones, 935-5341 Look inside for the many ways you can volunteer! Why do we have Winterfest? Just ask your kids! Winterfest is an all-school carnival held the last Friday in January (January 30th, 2009) from 5:30 – 8:30. It is a wonderful night of games, prizes, food and friends. Winterfest is a PTO sponsored “funraiser” (as well as a fundraiser) and a warm way to spend a cold evening in January. Did you know? *Winterfest raises $10,000+ each year to support PTO sponsored programs that benefit each and every student at Alice Smith. The PTO helps to sponsor many programs including Art Adventure, Bravo, field trips, many school assemblies as well as the school directory and 6th grade trip to Eagle Bluff. *Winterfest is teachers and staff spending an evening of their own at school to be with our kids. Look for them making cotton candy, serving pizza, selling tickets or running a game in the gym. Be sure to thank them! *Winterfest Carnival takes over 400 parent and staff volunteers the night of Carnival to make it a fun-filled, community building success. VOLUNTEERS! VOLUNTEERS! VOLUNTEERS! #1 #2 #3 HOW CAN YOU HELP? Say “YES” when your classroom caller calls you to sign up for a shift; OR Visit the Volunteer Sign Up in the Front Entryway at School to sign up for a shift at Winterfest. You may also view the Volunteer Sign Up on-line at www.Hopkins.k12.mn.us (click on Alice Smith, follow the link to “Winterfest”) to see what’s available; OR Take a minute and call or e-mail Marianne Aydil, Volunteer Coordinator, 938-5103 or [email protected] to volunteer for your favorite event. Each game or activity is divided into three shifts. Shifts run approximately one hour, which leaves plenty of time for the whole family to enjoy a fun-filled evening. We need YOU to make this event a success! COAT CHECK Did you know that you do not have to carry your coat while you’re at Winterfest? There is a coat check provided in the Kids & Company Room (Room 40). You may also leave any of those delicious cakes or bags of munchies that you’ve won and pick them up at the end of the evening. In exchange for checking your coat or goodies, the PTO asks $1 per family. Come see us in Room 40 and we’ll hang up your coat!
