Homework –Summer First Half Term 2017 Weekly homework – the expectation is that the following will be completed every week: - Spellings – tested on Thursdays Reading 4-5 times a week either independently or to an adult Learning/revising times tables – tested on Wednesdays One activity chosen from the selection below Please see below a range of homework activities. The expectation is that you choose one activity to complete each week. This should be handed in on Friday. If you find one week is not enough for an activity, then please let me see your work in progress each Friday. Obviously you may complete more than one activity each week. One of the ‘green’ activities must be chosen within the half term. Create a poster about Michelle Paver. Imagine you are Torak. Write a diary entry. What did Maya people eat? How was their diet different to ours? Why? Label the ancient Maya cities on a map: Coba, Copan, Tikal, Tulum, Yaxchilan, Xunantunich, Chichen Itza, Uxmal, Palenque and Calakmul Can you create a mnemonic to remember the order of the planets in our solar system? Write out some calculations using the Maya number system. Create a fact file about the Maya civilisation. Create a poster about polygons – describe their properties. What language did the Mayas use? Can you write a message using their language? Build a model/ draw a picture of one of the Maya temples. Who was Nicolaus Copernicus? How did he change our thinking in science?
