Reflection Activity #3: What does a happy, healthy, and safe relationship mean to you?
When you think of the words “happy,” “healthy,” and “safe” in terms of
relationships, what thoughts and feelings come to mind? The reality is
that everyone’s definitions of these words can be very different.
Therefore, it’s important to be clear about your understanding of these
words because they play a huge role in the quality of your relationship.
If you’re not dating or in a committed relationship right now, simply
think about what these words mean to you as an individual person.
The diagram below shows how safety represents your foundation in a
healthy relationship. If someone does not feel safe in a relationship,
health and happiness cannot develop successfully.
Spend some time reflecting on how you would define “safe, “healthy,”
and “happy” when it comes to relationships. Write some words or
phrases that come to mind in each section of the diagram below that
relates to how you feel about each of these words.
