Qiita, Wiki for Programmers, Surpasses 10 Thousand Registered
Programmers and 150 Thousand Monthly Unique Visitors
TOKYO JAPAN - Dec 4 - Increments Inc. (hereinafter referred to as Increments)
announced that the number of registered users for its knowledge sharing platform for
programmers “Qiita” exceeded 10 thousand in Japan.
Since its launch on September 16 in 2011, Qiita has been growing steadily and the
number of unique visitors per month reached 150 thousand in Japan. This is equal to
approximately 40 percent of the total number of programmers in Japan (Note 1), this
indicates that Qiita is one of the largest online programmer communities in Japan. Also the
fact that 46% of the registered users consists of GitHub (Note 2) users indicates that Qiita
is growing as a high-quality programming community with skillful and active programmers.
In addition, notetaking and archiving Mac application for programmers “Kobito,” which
Increments released on April 5 in 2012, has been downloaded by more than 4 thousand
developers.
Increments also hosts offline activities for programming communities.
- Developer Meetups in four different cities (Sapporo, Tokyo, Nagoya, Kyoto)
- Qiita Hackathon with 50 participants (Oct 13, 2012)
- A Hackathon specialized in a certain area (Android) (Dec, 2012 scheduled)
Increments envisions to create an environment where programmers can enjoy coding,
create various products, and develop efficiently.

select topics (such as programming languages) they are interested in. Users will get feeds of
information related to the topics they are interested in. Programmers can post code snippets and
knowledge and receive feedback from other programmers.

Kobito is a Mac application archiving programming notes and code snippets. Kobito supports
Markdown, making it easy to view code. Kobito is integrated with Qiita, making it easy to push
code to the platform.
