Our Nordic tipis are based on ancient design principles. Since time immemorial, nomadic
people have protected themselves from the elements in this type of construction. The weatherresistance of Nordic tipis means they are suitable for events in any season and in any kind of
weather. In addition to stability, flexibility and high quality, a Nordic tipi from Tentipi also offers
a natural and genuinely cosy atmosphere in sharp contrast to square-shaped and industrially
manufactured synthetic tents.

We are a tent-manufacturing company whose
roots are to be found deep in the soil of Lapland
and the strong tradition of being close to nature
that is manifest up here in northern Sweden. This
cultural heritage is something that is evident in
all our products.
Ever since the company started up in 1989, our
mission has been to provide our customers with
tents and accessories of unbeatable design and
quality.
However, it is not just the products in themselves.
We also strive to fulfill people’s need for
togetherness and meaning. Spending time in a
Nordic tipi from Tentipi, with its genuine
atmosphere and link to the days when we lived
closer to nature, can give us these more

Sami heritage
The Sami kata and the Indian teepee are in
principle the same solution for living close to
nature. A simple cone-shaped frame of wooden
poles was covered with animal hides, with an
opening at the top to let out smoke. Very quickly
the nomadic reindeer herding Sami people of
northern Scandinavia had a wind-resistant and
relatively sophisticated home that was easy to
keep warm.
The principle was simple: the fire created warmth
and the hides kept it in. The fire also provided
light and a homely atmosphere. Cooking and
smoking food, drying clothing and other
household chores could be easily done inside.
Because the kata weighed little in relation to its
size, it was the perfect solution for a nomadic
lifestyle. The wooden frame was easy to make so
it could be left behind when the nomadic people
moved on. In practice, they often returned to their
earlier camps year after year, so the kata was set
up quickly using the frame previously left there.

BEING DIFFERENT — WITH TENTIPI®
Construction
Materials
Fabric — thick, tough, breathable, water-repellent
cotton/polyester mix. It’s far more durable than
simple, cheap cotton fabric. But it still lets the
light glow warmly through and it breathes to
ensure a pleasant atmosphere and less
condensation. At the bottom edge the canvas is
reinforced with 50 cm of tear-resistant
polyamide. Flame-retardant fabric is available if
required by the authorities.
Poles — these are timber poles of world-beating
quality. They are immensely strong, yet very
manageable during erection. This is because they
are made from the best possible material —
extremely late-maturing, de-barked spruce that is
lighter than pine. For example the poles for
Cirrus 72 are made from trees of up to 150 years
old. The annual rings are often so tight they
almost touch. Consequently, the poles not only
have huge load-bearing strength, this density
also makes them highly durable and rotresistant.
You can put up Classic, wooden-pole Nordic tipis
quickly without a ladder! When the canvas is tied
to its poles you simply sweep it around the
framework!
Draughts are prevented by the unique Tentipi®
door construction.

so that the canvas can be raised to form a brim,
like a giant hat, that gives you free air circulation
and shade during hot days.

CIRRUS 40
Tentipi® patent
Versatility is the Cirrus 40 keynote.
There is space for 40 seated at tables.
For maximum flexibility, the side opposite the
doorway can be rolled up to make an opening
1.8 m high and 4 m wide.
This simplifies throughput for large numbers of
exhibition visitors; it provides an excellent view
for guests at a party; it can be the starting point
for a skiing competition; it also means you can
connect it to other Nordic tipis for a large event.
For example, you can easily use the Cirrus 40 as
a kitchen to serve several connected Stratus 72
Nordic tipis. Or you can use it as an entrance/
greeting lobby, a cloakroom, storeroom, lounge,
break-out area, etc. It seats 40 at tables.
The Cirrus 40 is an excellent alternative to the
Granit 40 for events where you expect heavy
snow.
It is so manageable — it has a patented
assembly system, with pre-mounted pole
connectors. This means that two people can erect
a Cirrus 40 in less than an hour without any
machines.

The extra door fulfils the need of a reserve exit or
a back door.
Cirrus 72 has become the first choice for so
many activities all year round because of its
stable structure, its reminder of our ancient roots,
its manageability, its spaciousness and the
opportunity to have an open fire.
A full tourist busload can be served comfortably
at tables inside a Cirrus 72.
It has two similar doors on opposite sides.
It is so manageable — it has a patented
assembly system, with pre-mounted pole
connectors. This means that two people can erect
a Cirrus 72 in less than two hours, without any
machines.
Also, the simpler design reduces the cost

The Cirrus 200 grabs attention at any event.
As far as we know, it is the biggest tepee-style
portable tent in the world.
With 176 m of covered area, it easily seats 200
people at tables, and it’s a comfortable option
for exhibitions, tourist venues, dinner dances.

In fact, you can use it for all the same
applications as the Cirrus 72 (but for twice as
many people).
It has the same (but stronger) patented
assembly system and pre-mounted pole
connectors as the other Cirrus models so that
two people can put it up correctly.
However, due to the much bigger size, the
Cirrus 200 has a much heavier pole framework
so that you do need a crane to erect it.

Its simple but attractive design adds rustic

You can store enough furniture to fill a whole
Cirrus 72 in a pile the size of one table,
about 1.6 m high. This furniture is more

Heating and cooking
Finnmark fireplace
Even complicated meals are easy to make using the Finnmark
fireplace. Three swing arms (A) for pots and pans can be easily
moved over the fire for cooking or warming. Muurikka 100 can be
placed on the three corner posts (B). Muurikka 48 and 58 can be
placed on the special swing-arm ring (C) and positioned over the
fire even when Muurikka 100 is being used. Fish can be flame
grilled on the provided planks (D).

The natural convection (E) gives better combustion, less smoke and
reduces fuel consumption. The sloped bottom (F) keeps the wood
centred. Ashes fall into the removable ash-box (G) under the
fireplace.

Propane equipment is delivered with
Norwegian/Swedish ‘industry-coupling’ as
standard.
Heat output can be increased by simultaneously
connecting more bottles to the heater. One
connector is required for each additional bottle.
It also means you don’t have to change bottles
so often. To prevent valves from freezing, one
bottle and connector is needed for every 2 kg of
gas used per hour.
Other countries may require a different
coupling.

Muurikka grill hobs
The Muurikka grill hobs have their origins in
Finland and there, charcoal grilling is a thing of
the past. Instead, Finland has about one million
Muurikka grill hob users!
When everyone is gathered, the grill hob is
placed over the fire or propane burner. The food
is then cooked quickly and easily without anyone
being left out. Those who want to can make their
own specialities. For an easy dessert, fry
pancakes and serve with jam and cream.
The thick bottom of the grill hob and its slightly
rounded shape ensures even heat distribution.
Any liquid gathers at the bottom and the sloping
shape facilitates cooking. The Muurikka 48, 58
and 100 cm have removable legs which can be
easily screwed on underneath the grill hob.
There are many reasons why the Muurikka grill

Impregnating agent
For use on fabrics with at least 50 percent
natural fibre blend. Avoid agents which are
sprayed on the fabric. They only give a thin
surface coating and are therefore easily worn off.
Our impregnating agent provides thorough
renovation and protects against both rotting and
water. The very high proportion of dry matter
gives exceptional long-term protection: two to
three seasons of intensive use. This agent was
produced for the Swedish and Norwegian armies,
which guarantees high quality.
This glue is suitable for impregnated fabrics.
Waterproof, weather proof, and strong
binding. Repairs rips and holes easily without
you even having to take down the Nordic tipi.
This is by far the best fabric adhesive we
have tested!

Does your Nordic tipi need repairing?
Contact us immediately to find out how
quickly you can get it fixed and how much it
will cost. At certain times of year, our sewing
department is very busy so it may be difficult
to get a swift repair then.
Classic Nordic tipis
Flame-retardation means compromising other qualities
such as tear resistance and pliability. Therefore this fabric
must be handled more gently than our standard fabric.
TSM 400 FR should be chosen in the first instance if your
local fire authority requires flame-retardation.

Wooden poles
The poles are made from extremely late
maturing de-barked spruce. This is the
best possible material for a Nordic tipi
frame. The poles are light but very strong
and rot-resistant.
